Pap smear
A Pap smear, also known as a Pap test or cervical cytology, is a medical screening procedure used to detect abnormal cervical cells in the cervix (the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina). The test is primarily performed to screen for cervical cancer or precancerous changes in the cervix, allowing for early detection and treatment.
Pap smears are an essential tool in the early detection of cervical cancer, which can be highly treatable when detected at an early stage.
